My 10 Favorite Looks From Spring’s New York Fashion Week

17 Sep

With over 100 designer collections, it was hard for me to narrow down my favorites. But here they are. Let me know what you think!

This dress from Oscar De La Renta. Do I need to say more? The color is just perfection and you will definitely make an entrance with the graceful high-low hem. Now all you need is a cocktail.

This Alice + Olivia look just proves you can wear denim with the most precious of things. Take this mint leather a-line skirt. This is ladylike meets L.A. casual.

Varsity looks certainly do not look like they are taking a seat on the bleachers any time soon, at least according to Marc by Marc Jacobs. I certainly wouldn't wear these two together but this jacket is an easy daytime essential.

I may have played with Jem dolls too much as a kid but I find something refreshingly girly about these shorts from Custo Barcelona. They can even be a clever replacement for a party dress. Just add a pretty camisole.

This look from Tory Burch reminds me of the book "Valley of the Dolls." Now all you need is sex kitten hair and you can easily switch out the heels for a pair of Tory's amazing flats.

Joie and practically every other fashion designer embraced the bare midriff trend for the season. I like the Joie look because it just gives a glimpse of skin without trying too hard.

Misha Nonoo designed one of the most mindful dress collections this season. With her impeccable attention to detail and her reasonable price points, this label is bound for success.

Ironically, I am showing a skirt here, which I love because it somehow grazes over imperfections (kind of like Vaseline over a camera lens).

I'm a sucker for a great short and Kate Spade showed a few. This metallic one will make your tan look glorious.

Gucci Gorgeous!

27 Sep

I love how Gucci took reference from the 1960’s without going completely retro. Here are my top picks from the collection:

This shade of blue is so stunning. Say hello to the colorful pantsuit!

Bound to show up on a red carpet near you. Can you just picture Olivia Wilde in this?

Snakeskin gone classy. How much do you love this jacket? The shorts are a must if you have amazing legs.

I love pastels swirled with snakeskin. One of my favorite trends for next spring.

So ethereal; this look IS Spring.

RGRS Takes London

Antonio Beradi: "I love anything pink but a pink suit = a plethora of options!"

Joseph: "This is perhaps the most chic leopard coat I have ever seen. Definitely could have belonged to Anne Bancroft in The Graduate."

Moschino Cheap and Chic: "The idea of using pink as a backdrop for mixed color fur is modern and fun! Can also be achieved with faux."

Mother of Pearl: "A white a-line skirt would go with everything in my closet, including my favorite K. Jacques sandals that I will wear through the fall."

Peter Jensen: "Plaid jumpers take me back to my Clueless years. The headphones and baby blue satchel are an added bonus."

What the RGRS girl wants to wear this fall:

Alice + Olivia: "Any gold metallic coat that can even dress up a pair of jeans is a gem to me. And the sunglasses are perfect for my ever-expanding collection."

Erin Fetherston: "Perfect for a ball or a magical evening under the stars."

Farah Angsana: "If only Studio 54 was still around. Maybe to Dream?"

Jenni Kayne: "Showing off cutesy bloomers is my new thing. A black sheer skirt is a safe bet."

The Row: "A clean sleeveless knit and a schoolgirl satchel is high school nostalgia; in a good way."

XOXO! Off to London!

If Only It Weren’t 20 Degrees Outside….

This dress is so versatile. I can really see it with tights and motorcycle boots or on vacation with K. Jacques sandals and a tan. Stella McCartney

I love the Grace Kelly in Monaco reference but the beauty is in the dress; which plays with sexy and femme with the sheer fabric and one-shoulder. Alice + Olivia

It doesn't matter what anyone says...nude is always chic in the summer. Plus, it makes your tan look so much hotter. Chloe

Jenni Kayne makes great clothes that every California girl wants to wear. This pant is colorful without looking clownish. Jenni Kayne

Lingerie touches seem to be always in but they are especially "it" for this summer. Go to vintage stores and peep in the lingerie department for camis you can wear under blazers. Rachel Zoe
