Russian Dressing

8 Mar

Miroslava Duma, a former editor of Russian Harper’s Bazaar and founder of Buro27, a Russian fashion website, is now a daily fixture on the fashion week street style circuit. I’ve seen tons of photos of Duma this past year but have started to really take notice of her personal style because of her unique injection of color into her wardrobe. She manages to look editorial yet approachable; almost childlike yet super-sophisticated.She is one of the few true living examples of someone who brings the runway to life.

Here are some of my favorite Duma looks:

By far the most fun pair of pants I have ever laid eyes on. Alice + Olivia Striped Pants, $200, Net-a-porter.com

These sandals are strictly for the girl who is too cool.....appropriate with black wide legged pants, ribbed tank, random personal jewelry and hair in a huge top knot. Costume National Tapered Toe Ring Sandals, $464, Shopbop.com

I love the colors on this sign. Wouldn't this be a great alternative to the typical "Do Not Disturb" sign? Honeymoon Sign, Price Upon Request, Lisa McAllister @ 1stdibs.com

I'm a fan of anything tye dye that doesn't channel The Grateful Dead. Tye Dye Colorblock Tank, $19.80, Forever21.com

Antonio Beradi: "I love anything pink but a pink suit = a plethora of options!"

Joseph: "This is perhaps the most chic leopard coat I have ever seen. Definitely could have belonged to Anne Bancroft in The Graduate."

Moschino Cheap and Chic: "The idea of using pink as a backdrop for mixed color fur is modern and fun! Can also be achieved with faux."

Mother of Pearl: "A white a-line skirt would go with everything in my closet, including my favorite K. Jacques sandals that I will wear through the fall."

Peter Jensen: "Plaid jumpers take me back to my Clueless years. The headphones and baby blue satchel are an added bonus."

If Only It Weren’t 20 Degrees Outside….

This dress is so versatile. I can really see it with tights and motorcycle boots or on vacation with K. Jacques sandals and a tan. Stella McCartney

I love the Grace Kelly in Monaco reference but the beauty is in the dress; which plays with sexy and femme with the sheer fabric and one-shoulder. Alice + Olivia

It doesn't matter what anyone says...nude is always chic in the summer. Plus, it makes your tan look so much hotter. Chloe

Jenni Kayne makes great clothes that every California girl wants to wear. This pant is colorful without looking clownish. Jenni Kayne

Lingerie touches seem to be always in but they are especially "it" for this summer. Go to vintage stores and peep in the lingerie department for camis you can wear under blazers. Rachel Zoe

Last week we put the spotlight on The Label Whore. This week it’s all about The Colorful Chameleon. This person is far from glum and wears color like nobody else (electric blue with pastel pink? Why not!) This individual is also a fan of the arts and perhaps is an artist themselves. If they wear black, it must be paired with a colored jean or a bright accessory. They are a kid at heart and their energy is off the wall!
