Still Can’t Get Enough of Cadbury Creme Eggs?

2 Apr

I hope everyone had a terrific holiday! I went to Long Island to see my family. I came home today and to my dismay, I couldn’t find anymore Cadbury Creme Eggs discounted at CVS (I did get lucky with the Mini Eggs though). This mission made me start thinking of this recipe that I think all cocktail fanatics should try. It’s sweet and what better excuse to extend Easter to just one more day….

Ingredients:

Makes 1 Serving

1 cup of ice

A dollop of caramel sauce

A Cadbury Creme Egg

A splash of whipped cream Vodka (about a tablespoon)

1 oz Creme de Cacao

.5 ounce of Godiva Chocolate Liqueur

1 oz Bailey’s Caramel Irish Cream

Your favorite chocolate syrup for the rim of the glass (I like Hershey’s)

Place a martini glass in the freezer for 15 minutes. After, take some chocolate syrup and rim the martini glass. Place the glass back in the freezer.

Add 1 cup of ice to a cocktail shaker then pour in 1 ounce of  Crème de Cacao, .5 ounce of Godiva Chocolate Liqueur, 1 ounce of Bailey’s Caramel Irish Cream and a splash of whipped cream vodka then shake until well chilled.

Scoop a good sized dollop of caramel syrup into the bottom of your glass. This will be the “yolk” of the creamy egg center.

Gently pour your martini over the caramel sauce, and top it off with a creme egg on a cocktail pick.

RGRS Rolodex: The Best Japanese Market in NYC

If you are looking for authentic ramen (hardboiled egg and all) and Vivi magazine all under one roof, this is the place. Don’t be deterred by the mainstream location in Soho; this place is legit. While suited business men wait on line to take their sushi to go, Japanese college students sit in the communal lunch area a flight above. My recommendations are the pork ramen ($10 for a huge container) and any soft drink from the brand Hawaiian Sun. The Passion Fruit and Guava are popular favorites. Once you’re done eating, browse through the quirky assortment of beauty products and Sanrio toys. I promise you will not leave here empty-handed.

A Sweet Treat

Clockwise from top: The interior of Sweetiepie, some of the deserts that they offer, the old-school bar.

I’m dying to eat at Sweetiepie in Greenwich Village. It’s a colorful restaurant where one can sit in a birdcage with 5 friends and order a LeRoy salad, a cool take on a Cobb salad, which was inspired by the childhood of owner Julie Janklow. Her L.A. childhood consisted of daily dinners at old-school institutions such as Brown Derby and the Fountain Coffee Shop at the Beverly Hills Hotel because her mother was not a good cook. Sweetiepie was born out of necessity. She felt there was a lack of a “magical space” to take her son out to. Not only is there the birdcage but fun murals are also on the wall as well as posh leather booths. The food is hearty, think Macaroni and Cheese, Tuna Decker Sandwiches and pancakes for dinner. But the deserts and well-stocked bar are the real stars of the show. The Sweetiepig consists of 18 scoops of ice cream, which is meant to be enjoyed with others (hopefully) and their signature drink, The Sweetiepie, is a mix champagne, St.Germain and pomegranate. Now that’s my kind of drink.

Sweetiepie is located on 19 Greenwich Avenue in NYC.
