If Only It Weren’t 20 Degrees Outside….

10 Jan

This dress is so versatile. I can really see it with tights and motorcycle boots or on vacation with K. Jacques sandals and a tan. Stella McCartney

I love the Grace Kelly in Monaco reference but the beauty is in the dress; which plays with sexy and femme with the sheer fabric and one-shoulder. Alice + Olivia

It doesn't matter what anyone says...nude is always chic in the summer. Plus, it makes your tan look so much hotter. Chloe

Jenni Kayne makes great clothes that every California girl wants to wear. This pant is colorful without looking clownish. Jenni Kayne

Lingerie touches seem to be always in but they are especially "it" for this summer. Go to vintage stores and peep in the lingerie department for camis you can wear under blazers. Rachel Zoe

The 2011 RGRS Gift Guide: Part 2

10 Dec

Last week we put the spotlight on The Label Whore. This week it’s all about The Colorful Chameleon. This person is far from glum and wears color like nobody else (electric blue with pastel pink? Why not!) This individual is also a fan of the arts and perhaps is an artist themselves. If they wear black, it must be paired with a colored jean or a bright accessory. They are a kid at heart and their energy is off the wall!

The 2011 RGRS Gift Guide: Part 1

3 Dec

It’s that time of the year again and what better way to kick off the season than to have an easy gift guide that will have everyone saying, “Wow, she/he really surprised me with that (fill in fun gift here)?!

This is not just any old guide though. I’ve actually been told that I give the best gifts. I think part of it has to do with that fact that I love shopping vicariously through other people but may I add that being a great listener as well as knowing where to source gifts that have a touch of  personality really helps too!

These guides are not by “Brother”, “Girlfriend”, “Mom”, etc. I did do them by personality but not just any run-of-the-mill type. Chances are if you read this site often, you actually know at least one of these types very well. Tonight features our first personality type, “The Label Whore.”

Yup, no explanation necessary, although I will proceed. She/he only wears the latest and greatest. Yes, even the nail polish is Chanel. Despite what people may think, this is actually a tough type to buy for. Just when you think you have them down, they are all sick of Balenciaga and onto Proenza……

Front Row

10 Nov

I’ve never gotten myself all excited over minimalistic clothing. After all, what’s the point of buying a white t-shirt if  you can buy a colorful gorgeous dress that’s far from boring?

The Row, the exclusive and luxurious brand founded by Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen definitely changed my opinion on simple yet beautifully detailed clothing. At first glance, a black sheath is a black sheath until you take a closer look and notice beautiful rose gold toned buttons. If anyone else designed a pink satin blazer, you may be thinking “Lawyer Barbie” but once The Row makes it, it might as well be the chicest (and perhaps most expensive) thing in your closet. Below is a video featuring the Olsen twins that is from Net-a-Porter.com. I’ve also picked my favorite items of the moment from the collection, which can also be purchased from Net-a-Porter.

The drama of a cape with the simplicity of a boyfriend cardi. Portsmouth Camel Wool Cardi-Coat, $1,290.

Unless Ivana Trump is your mother, I think this backpack is best reserved for after school activities. Leather Backpack, $3,900.

The glimpse of the shoulder makes this sweater sensual as well as a superb layering piece. Chilvers Cashmere and Mohair-Blend Sweater, $925.

Really worth the investment if you work in any kind of corporate enviroment. Steelford Wool-Blend Cropped Pants, $790.

So Ashley Olsen. Rider Collarless Leather Jacket, $2,375.
