My 10 Favorite Looks From Spring’s New York Fashion Week
17 SepWith over 100 designer collections, it was hard for me to narrow down my favorites. But here they are. Let me know what you think!
This dress from Oscar De La Renta. Need I say more? The color is just perfection, the texture whispers “touch me”, and you will definitely make an entrance with the graceful high-low hem. Now all you need is a cocktail.
This Alice + Olivia look just proves you can wear denim with the most precious of things. Take this mint leather a-line skirt. This is ladylike meets L.A. casual.
Varsity looks certainly do not look like they are taking a seat on the bleachers any time soon, at least according to Marc by Marc Jacobs. I certainly wouldn’t wear these two together but this jacket is an easy daytime essential for anyone who wants to add a bit of sportiness to their look.
I may have played with Jem dolls too much as a kid but I find something refreshingly girly about this skirt from Custo Barcelona. This piece can even be a clever replacement for a party dress. Just add a pretty camisole.
This look from Tory Burch reminds me of the book “Valley of the Dolls.” Now all you need is sex kitten hair and you can easily switch out the silver shoes for a pair of Tory’s classic ballet flats.
Joie and practically every other fashion designer embraced the bare midriff trend for the season. I like the Joie look because it just gives a glimpse of skin without trying too hard.
Misha Nonoo designed one of the most mindful dress collections this season. With her impeccable attention to detail and her reasonable price points, this label is bound for success. Ironically, I am showing a skirt here, which I love because it somehow grazes over imperfections (kind of like Vaseline over a camera lens).
I’m a sucker for a great short and Kate Spade showed a few. This metallic one will make your tan look amazing.
Listen to “Outrageous” by Britney Spears and then take inspiration from this Michael Kors look.
Be a Pink Lady and invest in this blazer. Since it’s designed by Rag & Bone, you know the tailoring is going to be on-point.
Miami Vice
15 AugI just came back from being in South Beach for the first time and I must say that it exceeded my expectations. Miami is not just made up of crazy spring breaker types. It’s a beach city that has some of the most elegant and glamorous restaurants/hotels/shops that I’ve ever seen. Don’t believe me? Here are three of my picks amongst Miami’s finest:
The Ritz-Carlton

Dinner poolside at the Ritz-Carlton, South Beach.
It might cost a kidney to stay here but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the Ritz. The DiLido Beach Club is an amazing restaurant to celebrate a special occasion or if you just want an amazing meal for almost the same amount you would pay at any other trendy Miami Beach spot. The service here cannot be matched. The staff is always attentive but never overbearing. They even served me dessert on the house for my birthday. And their cocktails are absolutely amazing. If you love Daquiris or Pina Coladas, you must try “The Vice.” A must try if you are trying to get away from the touristy Lincoln crowd. You can even dive in the pool and they won’t even say anything 😉

One of the things I was looking forward to do on my trip to Miami was to try have some authentic Cuban food. I was very lucky to visit during “Miami Spice” (Miami’s version of restaurant week) and Yuca had a exceptional dinner menu. If you love meat, you cannot pass this place up. Their pork is out of this world, the empanadas are a splendid starter and the margaritas are very strong, just the way they should be. This is a great place to have dinner right before heading upstairs, where on most Saturdays they have a D.J. or a band.

If you love Alaia, Chanel and Balenciaga, this boutique housed in a 20,000 square foot Art Deco building is a label whore’s dream. Quirky Charlotte Olympia clutches live amongst Maison Michel headpieces and Chanel jackets. Although everything is pretty much out of my price range, (with the exception of the signature Webster candles??), I had so much fun looking at everything. Also, the salespeople are very welcoming. To make things even more insanely stylish, they have a happy hour on their rooftop from 7-11PM.

Top 3 Lipsticks Every R.G. Needs in Her Arsenal
2 AugI’ll admit, I really do not wear lipstick often. Maybe it’s because I speak a lot and I have some irrational fear that it will get on my teeth. But even though it might not be a constant, I have a lipstick for every occasion and style. If you are still building your cosmetic wardrobe or simply just love make-up, take a look at my three have-to-have-them lipsticks:
The Perfect Red
This is the hardest lipstick to find. “This red has too much blue” and “this one has orange undertones” are excerpts of conversation that are all too familiar to any daunted shopper on the hunt for her red. Here’s the thing, your best friend’s red is not going to be your red. Also, she might swear by Lancome but Cover Girl might suit you just fine. Either way, try a few at a Sephora or a department store and then look at yourself in natural daylight. By the way, Chanel “Gabrielle”is my red and rumor has it that it’s many others as well.

A Go With Everything Nude
Nude lipsticks are like a good push-up bra; they make you look more…ahem…pronounced, all while playing a supportive role. You should think of nudes this way. I’ve always loved lunchboxes. I had a Ghostbusters one in elementary school and a Kerropi one in junior high for storing school supplies. They are so unpredictable but yet so practical and durable. Plus, anyone can find one that tells everyone what their favorite T.V. show, musician or cartoon they enjoyed as a child. Even former Paris Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld used a Mickey Mouse one in her latest editorial for V magazine, proof that something that seems so childish can have their very own high-fashion moment as well.

Charms are extremely accessible, especially if you are on a tight budget. They could cost as little as a nickel or into the millions if you get yours from Harry Winston! They could even be heirlooms. My mother has an impressive charm collection with all of the cliches, “#1 Mom” and birthstone charms included. They can also be put onto bracelets, necklaces or can dangle off of a cool bag…perhaps on heirloom as well?

She also wears them in a plethora of ways which is quite inspirational.

Beach Bunny: Siesta Key Beach, Florida

If you are looking for a beach on the East Coast that is clean and actually has clear water, you might want to consider heading down to Siesta Key Beach.
This gorgeous beach is a popular destination for weddings as well as Americans who want a quick weekend getaway. The sand is also pure white and according to a friend “feels like talcum powder.” I wouldn’t advise going during a holiday week and when you do visit, I recommend The Ringling Beach House.
